Company
background: Carol Jones, the founder and Managing
Director of Select Speakers Ltd, once appeared in Nigel Dempster’s
diary page of the Daily Mail under the heading ‘another
Jones has the gift of the gab’.
The article referred
to her following her employer the late Sir John Harvey-Jones
as a speaker. With his encouragement Carol combined
her role as his PA with speaking at a number of conferences. She then started a company which provides
speakers for conferences and other events. Since
it’s inception in 1996, the company has compiled a unique
portfolio of speakers. The
company specialises in offering speakers a total representation
service, including comprehensive administrative back-up, promotion
and publication, marketing and book-keeping.
The company also
prides itself on its unique position of helping unrecognised
and aspiring professional speakers.
The company has
acquired a comprehensive working knowledge of the liaison
and organisation skills required when organising speaking
engagements. Select takes pride in offering an efficient
and effective yet friendly and courteous service for anyone
seeking speakers for all types of events and conferences.
The
late Sir John Harvey-Jones was once quoted as saying: ‘Carol
is very high-powered and extremely efficient’. It is these qualities she brings to her
own business combined with a friendly unstuffy attitude and
a belief that business should be fun – still embodying
this view of business Select Speakers as a company has grown
into a key player in the UK
speaking industry.
The above qualities are applied to everyday business and anyone
who contacts us. Our client page
can testify to the diversity of size and nature of the businesses
we care for.
Select Speakers now offers professional speakers for corporate
events, speakers for consultancy and interim management, a
representation service for professional speakers, a career
plan for aspiring professional
speakers, and budget speakers who are excellent presenters
and experts in particular areas of business but not well known
(or destined for stardom but still building their reputation)
that offer extremely good value.
In November 2003 Carol was awarded the ‘Five Counties Business
Women of the Year’ Award. The sponsors Broomfield
and Alexander, Gwent Enterprise, Gwent Business Womens’
Network and Ngb2b awarded her the title not only for her own
achievements but for also raising the profile of women in
business in South Wales and
in 2004 was runner-up as the ‘Five Counties Entrepreneur
of the Year’. |
